Shire Housing Association recently had a five year stock condition survey undertaken. The results of the survey were used to construct a Stock Information Database (SID) for each individual dwelling of our housing stock.

The data held on each dwelling indicates the condition of its main elements allowing the Association to identify the forward planned maintenance programme.

Once the new 30 year lifecycle costings were produced, a financial appraisal was undertaken, on the impact on the cash flows of the business and the rent increases necessary to ensure the 30 year planned maintenance programme was affordable and viable.
